My Big Lips and I

My Big Lips and I

On a seemingly ordinary day, under a sky bluer than sapphire, children reveled in a symphony of play and laughter. Among them was a young girl named Favour, brimming with energy and joy. Little did she know that the day's events would alter the trajectory of her life forever.

As Favour attempted to cross the road, a motorcycle appeared out of nowhere, moving at breakneck speed. In the blink of an eye, Favour was swept off her feet, the impact propelling her into a whirlwind of pain and unconsciousness.

When she awoke, she found herself lying in a hospital bed, her face a mosaic of wounds and abrasions. Her front teeth were missing, and her features were distorted almost beyond recognition. At the tender age of five, Favour had survived an ordeal that would fundamentally change her.

In the years following the accident, Favour transformed into a markedly different individual. Her body bore the lingering imprints of that day, most notably her enlarged lips and darkened gums. The big lips, a consequence of being unable to close her mouth properly due to the accident's pain, gave her face a unique appearance.

Her schooling had to be put on hold for a month due to her injuries, causing Favour to forget much of what she'd learned. But once her parents were confident she was ready to return, she was met with a wave of joy and relief from her classmates, teachers, and even the school's security guard.

However, as time wore on, the classmates who once welcomed her warmly began to mock Favour's prominent lips. Despite the harsh words, Favour's mother advised her not to listen to them, encouraging her to rise above the taunts. From then on, Favour learned to counter any insults with grace and dignity, sometimes even with a well-placed witty retort.

During a particularly fierce argument, Favour found herself in a physical altercation. The event led her home in tears, to the amusement of the neighbourhood children, who had given her the unkind nickname "Phi-Lips". But Favour's mother, ever her rock, had two words of wisdom for her - "Be Tough."

Those words ignited a change in Favour. She confronted her classmates, reclaiming her lost respect and evolving into a mentor for the younger students. However, her larger-than-life lips continued to be a source of personal insecurity.

Everything changed when she joined a youth empowerment group named Youthdacity. There, Favour met a mentor who helped her see her lips not as a defect, but as a unique feature that women worldwide were paying considerable sums to emulate. Initially skeptical, Favour conducted her own research and found her mentor's claims to be true.

Embracing her mentor's advice, Favour began to celebrate her unique appearance. As her confidence grew, so did the compliments, transforming what was once a point of ridicule into her most admired feature.

Today, Favour carries herself with pride and grace, grateful for the journey she has undertaken and the remarkable lips that have become her trademark. She serves as a living testament to the adage that all things work together for good. Indeed, the divine orchestration was at play in Favour's life. The accident, once viewed as a misfortune, had transpired to be a blessing in disguise."
